Design of Six New Levels for STAR: Super Tricky Amazing Run
I designed six unique levels for STAR: Super Tricky Amazing Run, contributing to every stage of the process — from initial concept to final implementation. The main goal was to create memorable and visually striking levels that would help the marketing team attract a new audience through major updates.
Each level adheres to the game’s core principles: compact maps that can be completed in 30–35 seconds on average and maintain a high win rate to keep players engaged.
Level Description
Gold Rush
A Wild West-themed level inspired by the gold rush era.
Wrecked Ships
A beach setting featuring wrecked ships and a giant octopus.
Quick Sand
An Arabian setting with bustling markets and treacherous quicksand.
Trick-or-Treat
A Halloween-themed level with pumpkins, candy, and spooky elements.
Rush Hour
A cityscape with parks, roads, and towering skyscrapers.
Moon Race
An Asian village celebrating the Lunar New Year with traditional decorations.
Level Structure
Each level is divided into unique zones that contrast with one another and challenge players with a variety of obstacles.
Examples of Zones:
Gold Rush: mine carts, a bridge made with pickaxes, and a cactus field.
Wrecked Ships: crabs, a wrecked ship, and octopus tentacles.
Quick Sand: a carpet market, shop rooftops, and a sultan’s palace.
Trick-or-Treat: a candy river, a pumpkin patch, and a haunted house.
Rush Hour: a city park, a busy road with cars, and a sewer system.
Moon Race: a zen garden, a lake with boats, and a street with a dragon.
Shortcuts
Each level features hidden shortcuts that allow observant players to bypass sections of the map and reach the finish line faster.
In the Trick-or-Treat level, the shortcut is a magical broomstick hidden behind locked gates. Players can access it by using the “Ghost” ability to pass through the gates.
In the Quick Sand level, players can use a flying carpet as a shortcut. To access it, they must first jump onto a rooftop using a trampoline cushion.
In the Wrecked Ships level, players can leave the main path to reach an area with surfboards. By jumping onto one of the boards, they can quickly glide to the opposite shore.
Results
The addition of these levels not only enriched the gameplay experience but also helped attract a new audience. The levels have shown excellent metrics, including high player engagement and positive feedback from the community.
